about me and my services

If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
— African Proverb

This African proverb captures my style and beliefs about psychotherapy. For this work to be effective and meet your expectations, you need to be committed. I work collaboratively and thoughtfully to customize treatment to meet your unique needs. Psychotherapy leads to growth and enhanced wellness, and I believe that this is best done in an environment that feels safe and kind. I am grateful to be able to do work that I love and find meaningful.

I have been doing clinical work for over twenty years. I received my Master of Arts and a Master of Education degree from Columbia University, and then earned my Doctorate in Philosophy at New York University. Some of the places that I  have trained and worked in New York City and Washington DC include the following:

  • Bellevue Hospital Center

  • VA Hospital in Brooklyn

  • Georgetown University (Counseling and Psychiatric Service)

  • National Institute for the Psychotherapies

  • Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW)

  • Center for Post-Traumatic Stress  (at PIW)

Additionally, I have received training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and completed a postdoctoral training fellowship at Prentice.

For the past few years, I’ve worked in private practice with individuals and couples. I am a generalist, which means that I treat people with a wide range of presenting issues and concerns. Clients in my practice frequently have issues with the following:

  • Life transitions

  • Family Dynamics

  • Relationships concerns

  • Diversity concerns and cultural issues

  • Reproductive mental health

  • Coping with traumatic experiences

  • Workplace concerns

  • Chronic illness and pain

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and/or Perfectionism
